This is really exciting and genuinely useful news.

Yahoo have introduced a new filter that not only will save you time and worry, it could also save you a copyright infringement. When you now use Yahoo to search for images Yahoo has developed a filter that will let you determine if the image is approved for reuse.  Access couldn’t be easier, visit yahoo and search your image desired. Then select filters, and check the option for creator allows reuse.   From that point it’s entirely self explanatory.

It’s branded as The Creative Commons license filter and will include images  that have been approved as free to use with occasionally the creator setting certain restrictions. Read the details on Yahoo to be certain, but essentially images are either ‘some rights reserved’ or ‘no rights reserved’. With the former  option the image will specify what is permitted by the image creator.

Yahoo listened to their customers on this one – excellent news indeed. Try it and see what you think.
