On the face of it the concept of having someone pay to subscribe to a twitter feed seemed really unlikely to me. Super Chirp allows the user to set a monthly subscription fee for subscribers and keep 70% of the revenue. Monthly access fee for the recipient can be set from $0.99 to $9.99

Super chirp promotes a sense of exclusivity and I’ve a feeling it might just work. I used to join some bands fan clubs just so I’d get a special release single or a chance to buy tickets for a secret show. It’s just the modern equivalent after all.
When I started to think about the possible applications I realized that of course this has some potential. Celebrities (both minor and major) could find fans who wanted exclusive tweets to make them feel part of a limited club, musicians and bands also (tour news, releases etc). Radio stations or podcasters could use them to promote competitions or giveaways, the questions for a actual competition could only be offered to subscribers. Other businesses could use them to highlight special discounts, appearances or promotions to a select audience.
If you are able to try the service please let us know how it performs.
